Waqar is our first blogger for this CIA exam site. He writes for us every Wednesday.
My progress with Gleim is going smoothly. I was studying very slowly at the beginning of my CIA journey because I was waiting for my CMA part 2 result which I PASSED. I am so happy to complete the CMA exam. I can now totally concentrate on CIA and complete this certification as soon as possible. A great quote:
Success in not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that counts.”
I’m not just resting now. The will of fire has spread inside me to achieve something more but in order to do that I need to be more disciplined and study harder as I did with the CMA exam. This is because CIA part one, two and three need a 75% score to pass the exam. As I found on the Gleim forum:
A scaled score of 600 points or higher is required to pass the CIA exam. A candidate would need to answer 75% of the questions correctly on an exam with a difficulty equal to what the Board of Regents deems appropriate. However, if an exam is found to be more difficult than the norm, a candidate may only need to answer 70% of the questions correctly to achieve 600 points.”
As an encouragement, I’ve got this — one of the best quotes I come across:
Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results.”
I’m going to improve day by day and will pace up. I’m planning on buying Wiley Focus Notes as a supplement. I think I will buy it this week and be able to tell you how much I like it, is it worth buying and my own experience with the notes. These notes are cheaper than the Wiley CIA test bank and Wiley books. I’m not gonna buy Wiley books because Gleim is sufficient but I think these notes will help me as supplementary reading.
I will also buy the Wiley test bank but will wait until I’ve clarified my concepts with Gleim books, Gleim test bank and Wiley Focus notes. Wiley test bank will be used the last for testing my grip on the topics. I hope to cover Wiley focus notes in my next post.
Lastly, just want to say never lose hope in yourself and stay motivated toward your goals.

That’s good progress Waqar, and again so glad you passed both parts of your CMA exam. I haven’t got the chance to review Wiley products for the CIA exam (I do have a preliminary analysis here) so it would be great if you can share your experience. I did have a full set of focused notes for the CPA exam and I do find it pretty helpful as a supplementary material, especially for those candidates who don’t have time to make their own notes.
For those who wants to learn more about the CIA exam scoring system, I have an explanation here.
Looking forward to your next post!
