Waqar is our first blogger for this CIA exam site, and he’s here with a Wiley focus notes review, and why he finds them helpful.
The first thing, which is the best about the Wiley Focus Notes, is that they are really cheap. So, if you do try them, it won’t harm you monetarily.
I did not know that the notes would be detailed and at the same time, they are to the point and focused. So, I suppose that’s why they named them focus notes 🙂
I considered the explanations in the focus notes well done. However, I did not buy the Wiley CIA textbook and can’t compare the two, but I would say that these notes are great. Also, I think they help enhance your knowledge of the subject matter.
The focus notes are really well organized, which helps you go through the notes easily.
I would say buy these focus notes and give them a chance. For me, I have put the purchase of these notes to great use because of the pros I described above. What’s more, I am really happy that Wiley has improved so much. A while back, I used Wiley’s intensive review for the CMA exam. In contrast, I did not like the Wiley CMA notes that came with the intensive review. But these CIA notes are — awesome — and I mean it.
Lastly, I want to recommend these notes as they will help you prepare for the exam and pass on your first try. Therefore, I hope you find this review useful. A marvelous quote for my readers :
In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.”

Note from Stephanie
Thanks for the evaluation of the Wiley CIA focus notes. I haven’t received a current copy, so it is very helpful to hear your first hand experience.
Referring to your comparison of Wiley’s Online Intensive Review for CMA, I have to say that Wiley didn’t create it. Instead, it was originally developed by the IMA, and Wiley started to help them update and distribute the course since 2013. Consequently, this explains why the format, and perhaps the quality, are quite different.
